What are the main differences between SPC and HDF flooring?
SPC flooring is made from a composite of stone and plastic, making it highly water-resistant, durable, and suitable for high-moisture areas like kitchens and bathrooms. HDF flooring, on the other hand, is made from compressed wood fibers and is usually found in laminate flooring. While it offers a natural wood feel, it's less resistant to water and may swell if exposed to moisture over time.
Which is better for high-traffic areas: SPC or HDF?
SPC flooring is typically better for high-traffic areas due to its high durability and scratch resistance. It’s also more resilient under heavy foot traffic and wear and tear, making it ideal for both residential and commercial spaces. HDF flooring can work well in medium-traffic areas but might show wear faster in heavily used areas.
How does the installation process differ between SPC and HDF flooring?
SPC flooring often features a click-lock system and doesn’t require glue, making it easier and faster to install, especially as a floating floor. HDF flooring, often seen in laminate options, can also use a click-lock system, but it may require an underlayment for sound and moisture resistance.
